SESSION: Financing Vehicles to Fuel Cleantech Development

Leo de Bever was hired as Alberta Investment Management Corporation’s first CEO, when it was created in 2008. Since that time, AIMCo has delivered on its objective of creating superior return on risk for its clients. 

Leo began his 39-year career at the Bank of Canada in Ottawa. Over the years, he has held leadership positions with eight institutions in Canada, the United States, Japan and Australia, focusing on economic and asset management strategy.

Over nearly a decade at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, he pioneered the use of quantitative risk management, and introduced investing in infrastructure, timberland, commodities and private real return bonds. 

Leo grew up in the Netherlands. He received a B.A. in economics from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin.

Leo is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of Dutch pension fund ABP.
