Meet some of Alberta's successful innovators and learn how they made it happen.



Chief Operating Officer,TEC Edmonton


Pamela Freeman has been with the University of Alberta, Industry Liaison Office, the predecessor to TEC Edmonton, since 2000 and has held various roles throughout her tenure. Currently, Pamela is the Chief Operating Officer at TEC Edmonton and is also responsible for the Entrepreneur Development Program. TEC Edmonton provides services to over 500 entrepreneurs, inventors a year and the Entrepreneur Development Program offers education and training along with advisory and mentorship services; and the TEC Centre offers companies office and wet lab facilities in Enterprise Square.
Pamela has owned and operated her own business, held senior positions in a number of non-profit organizations and provided management consulting services. She has a MBA from the University of Alberta, is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and is the Vice Chair of the Bachelor of Technology Advisory Committee at NAIT, a Board member of the Alberta Health Industry Association (AHIA), and for the past four years was a part time instructor at NAIT teaching Innovation and Change Management.






Executive Vice-President, Business Development,
TEC Edmonton


Dr. Yatscoff has spent the last six years at TEC Edmonton initially as an Alberta Heritage Foundation Medical Research Executive in Residence and more recently as Executive Vice-President of Business Development. He is responsible for a team that works with over 80 companies on an annual basis. He has over ten years experience as a Biotech Executive in publically traded companies. He is a seasoned director on both public and private company Boards and actively participated on several Advisory Boards and Committees both Industry and Academic related. He was part of the team that raised over $200M in equity financing for a Biotech company. He provides guidance and mentorship to local start-up companies on technology commercialization, business planning, presentations, investor relations and financing. He is actively involved with assisting start-up companies to secure financing. He currently holds more than 20 patents. He is an accomplished Academic with almost twenty years spent in increasing roles in several Canadian Universities, having attained the status of Full Professor. He is an active and involved community member, fully supporting key groups, participating in Board responsibility and fundraising for causes
